We regret to announce a price increase.  Starting immediately, all clients of PCT Computer Services will be charged $75.00 for the first hour of services and then $45.00 an hour after the first hour, prorated to the next five minutes.  This price increase was made necessary due to rising costs in transportation and the general cost of living, however the cost of our services remains substantially lower than other similar services in San Diego County.  We will continue to provide for the individual computer user the same kind of goods and services that are provided to the professional and business community at a substantial savings.

Safekeeper 5.0 has arrived! Improving on the already great 4.1 version, the 5.0 version has added a search by password age feature. Additionally, you may now have a message warn you automatically if your password age is more than 2, 4, 6 or 12 months old when viewing an account. By monitoring your password ages, you can make sure old ones are updated regularly, thus keeping your accounts safer than before.

Always remember, however, to not save the password in Safekeeper until you are have changed it with your account holder.

We regret to announce a price increase. Starting immediately, all new clients of PCT Computer Services will be charged $60.00 for the first hour of services and then $36.00 an hour after the first hour, prorated to the closest five minutes. For current customers, this price increase does not go into effect until July 1st, 2005. This price increase was made necessary due to rising costs in transportation and the general cost of living, however the cost of our services remains substantially lower than other similar services in San Diego County. We will continue to provide for the individual computer user the same kind of goods and services that are provided to the professional and business community at a substantial savings.

PCT Computer Services is no longer supporting Ricochet Wireless Services.  It is our feeling that, while the service provided to date has been acceptable, the company has changed hands too often and much of the future development in Internet services will soon outpace and exclude them.

It is with regret that we announce a price increase.  PCT Computer Services - The Personal Computer Tutor has been in business for approximately five years.  At no time has there been a price increase to our customers.  However, due to the increases in gas and the cost of living, a new pricing structure will be in effect as of September 1st, 2003.  Starting that day, the minimum visit fee is increasing to $50.00, which will cover the first hour.  The hourly rate after the first hour will remain at $30.00 an hour.  The net effect of this is that a visit will cost $10.00 more.   As always, this fee structure is based on the time utilized during the visit, does not include a travel fee, does not include travel time and is not based on any particular service.  The rates for projects that do not require a visit will remain at $30.00 an hour as well.

The Personal Home Manager 2 has been released for all operating systems!  Unlike PHM 1, which limited a person to only six Managers in the demonstration program, PHM 2 is fully functional allowing a user to try it out for 30 days.  After that time, registration is required.  After 60 days, the program will no longer respond at all and should be uninstalled.

SafeKeeper is now up to version 3.0.  A new, easier to use interface and improvements in the updating and database navigation as well as search have been included.   New, improved fonts for display (so you can tell the difference between an I (capital eye) and an l (small ell) or a O and a 0) and other features make this the best SafeKeeper yet.  Demo available - just click the link to the left.

Announcing 2 new utility programs!

The gremlins at PCT Computer Services have been very busy putting together two new 'desk-top' utilities designed to make your life easier.  Safe Keeper is a utility designed to keep all of your user names and passwords in an easy-to-use and extremely secure program.  It can be used by the whole family and keeps the information separate for each family member.  For more information on Safe Keeper, click the Safe Keeper link to the left.

The other new utility is a program designed to be an aid to a cluttered desk and is called Scratch Pad.  Created to be used just after notes are scribbled or to organize the manner in which fast information is kept, Scratch Pad contains searching functions to find phrases or words and can even print out the information you entered in a convenient size.  Keep lists, phone numbers, and other information in an easy to use and access format and search by date, number, name or phrase.  Quickly find the information you need, rather than scrounging around your desk for an hour.  For more information about Scratch Pad, click the Scratch Pad link to the left.

Newly Arrived!!

PCT Computer Services has published useful, easy to follow and print instructions for basic maintenance and trouble-shooting problems all IBM PC users encounter but may not be sure how to handle.  Click on the FAQ's links at the top, left and bottom of every page for more information.
